What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team?

Growing up with a younger sister with developmental disabilities, I have an immense appreciation for endeavors that make the world more accessible and inclusive. It’s so easy to take everyday experiences for granted when they are tailored towards you, so I’m excited to help open up the array of opportunities in Charlottesville.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do?

I’m looking forward to bringing some of ATP’s work back to Grounds. I think there’s great value in showing different CIOs what it means to be accessible and sensory-friendly, and I would love for more Charlottesville families and UVA students to interact and form close relationships.

What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team?

With my creative spirit and love for kids, I am able to live out my passions while creating a unique experience never thought possible for these kids. My happiness feeds off the gratitude and joy families feel from opportunities ATP and other organizations provide. Having worked with kids with disabilities for many years, I am excited to continue my involvement in the disabled community.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do?

I excited to interact with the kids and their families within the Charlottesville community as well as exploring new opportunities ATP has to offer. Engaging in other mediums of art such as painting, sculpting, and music could offer some new sensory activities and combine within theater production events.

What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team?

I’m excited to be a part of ATP because I really want to get involved more with the Charlottesville community and I’d like to spend the free time that I have giving back in some way instead of watching Netflix in bed. As someone who has benefitted from a theater background, I’d love to help give that to someone else.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do?

This year I’m looking forward to finding ways to bring the community together, as well as broadening my understanding of those with sensory disabilities.

What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team?

For me ATP is an exciting way to share my love of theater with a new audience. I have always found the theater to be a safe and comfortable place and I can’t wait to be a part of making that joy accessible to everyone.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do? (1-2 sentences)

I’m hoping to get some experience working with professional and collegiate theater groups as well as the greater Charlottesville community. I’m from Atlanta, GA and I’m grateful for the ability to explore and interact in a new community in my new home. I also can’t wait to get to know and connect with more UVA students!

Other Involvements In UVA: I am currently involved in volunteering through Madison House and the Haven. I also am the editor-in-chief for Spectra, our undergraduate research journal for SEAS.

What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team?

I am excited to help with providing sensory friendly experiences to everyone, especially because I had many experiences with the neurodiverse population, but was unable to interact with them on a deeper level. ATP provides an exciting opportunity to share and enjoy a common experience with new people I haven’t worked with before.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do?

I am looking forward to creating a fun show for everyone, even though this semester everything is virtual! What we do will be a new stimulus to everyone at the time of quarantine, so it is certainly something to look forward to.

What does ATP mean to you and/or why are you excited to be a part of the team? ATP is a huge step in providing equal experiences to everyone and allowing for accommodations to be made for enjoyment, not just for utilitarian purposes. Theater and the arts should be enjoyed by everyone and I love how this organization works towards that goal.

What’s something new you’re looking forward to/something new you want to do?

I’m looking forward to making people happier! Happiness is an intrinsic part of life and I’d love to give more people the opportunity to find that joy in the arts as I do. I also think it’s essential to raise awareness of inclusivity and give everyone the opportunity to grow and develop creatively
